
The PREI shall for each work activity appoint a person responsible for the safe operation of the electrical installation during work activities, the PCEI.
The PCEI is responsible to assure that the affected part of the installation is safe to work on.
The PCEI shall assess what impact the work and the involved persons may have on the installation and take corresponding and suitable safety measures.
When all preparations before work are complete, the PCEI shall give authorisation to the PCWA.
The PCEI shall remain in control over the part of the installation where authorisation to start work has been given during the entire time a work is in progress.
When needed, the PCEI can request assistance in carrying out safety measures, by delegating duties to Assisting Functions.
PCEI’s duties:
- Receive Work Request
- Assess impact on the installation’s operation
- Plan appropriate switchings and safety measures
- Issue a Switching Schedule and secure that it has been checked by another PCEI or similar with knowledge of the affected installation (four eye principle)
- Execute planned switchings and safety measures
- Issue a safety document to the PCWA
- Receive clearance of the safety document from PCWA
- Restore the electrical installation to normal operation
PCEI Competence criteria
To be nominated as a PCEI, the person shall be Skilled and fulfil function specific competence requirements.
