Basic principles of safety documents

When all preparations before work are complete, the PCEI shall give authorisation (formal approval in writing) to the PCWA.

Only the PCEI shall give permission for the work to be carried out. This procedure shall also be followed in the case of any interruption of the work activity and at the end of the work.

The PCEI shall remain in control over the part of the installation where authorisation to start work has been given during the entire time a work is in progress.

A safety document is a formal recorded process used to control work. It is also a means of communication between the person controlling the installation, and the person in control of the work activity.

Safety documents are required to be retained personally by the recipient who takes over complete charge of the work and any workers working under the terms of the document.

Safety documents being one of the following:

  • Permit-To-Work
