Introduction to Wind Electrical Safety Rules (WESR)

Health and safety are a top priority to ensure that we have a healthy and safe work environment.

The Wind Electrical Safety Rules (WESR) is common rules for working safely when the work imposes an electrical hazard. Following the WESR’s will ensure compliance with all relevant European legislation.

The WESR is a collection of the knowledge and experience from the wind industry, compiled in a single source for achieving electrical safety. It shall be used by everyone who plans or performs work in which an electrical hazard is present, unless there is another System in place that regulates the safe working on electrical systems.

The WESR is based on EU-standard EN 50110-1 – Operation of electrical installations, which sets the minimum level of safety required for all electrical work. When working according to the WESR, the requirements of the EU-standard and industry best practice are fulfilled.
