Safety document process

Issue and receipt of a safety document

Work or testing under the authority of a Safety document shall be limited to that specified in the document.

A Safety document shall be prepared and issued by the person controlling the installation.

A Safety document shall be received and cleared by the person in control of the work activity.

Whilst work under the safety document is in progress, further workers may work under that safety document only after they have been properly instructed by the person in control of the work activity.

It is the responsibility of the person in control of the work activity to assure that the persons in the working party understand the safety document, its scope and limits of the work, before giving permission to start work under his/her direction.

Reqired content of a safety document

After the medical examinations you shall:

  • Work location
  • Work boundaries
  • Date and duration
  • Preconditions
  • Person issuing the document
  • Person receiving the document

Return and re-issue of a Safety document

If, for any reason, the recipient no longer can be responsible for the safety of the workplace, he or she shall return the Safety document to the issuer.

The person controlling the installation can subsequently re-issue the Safety document.

The person controlling the installation can at any time request the Safety document to be returned, for example if new risks emerge.

Clearance of a Safety document

A clearance of the Safety document confirms that, as far as the person in control of the work activity is concerned, the part of the installation is ready for operation. It is cleared by holder of the Safety document to the person controlling the installation.

The person clearing the Safety document shall certify that all workers working under the Safety document have been withdrawn from the location, warned not to further work on the equipment, and certify that the work site has been cleared of all tools, gear, additional earths and loose material.
