Work process

The overall work process is the same for all working procedures. The steps of the work process are outlined below.

1. Plan work (Work Planner)

  • Perform Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS)
  • Create Work Request
  • Perform a Pre-Job Briefing
  • Submit Work Request to PCEI and include RAMS

2. Plan switchings (PCEI)

  • Check and verify Work Request
  • Plan switchings and safety measures in a switching schedule
  • Check Switching Schedule (4-eye principle)
  • Send out Switching Schedule
  • Delegate Control Responsibility (if necessary)

3. Prepare installation for work (PCEI)

  • Disconnect completely
  • Secure against reconnection
  • Verify absence of operating voltage
  • Earth and short circuiting
  • Apply protection against adjacent live parts
  • Issue a Permit-To_Work

4. Perform work (PCWA)

  • Receive Permit-To-Work
  • Perform Risk Management at the work location (RISK-W) and communicate the risks with the work team
  • Perform a Pre-Job Briefing with the work team
  • Verify absence of operating voltage
  • If necessary apply supplementary safety measures
  • Perform work activity
  • Secure that the electrical installation is ready for reconnection
  • Inform workers about the reconnection – ensure that no one continues to work
  • Remove supplementary safety measures
  • Clear Permit-To-Work
  • Perform a Post-Job Debriefing with the work team

5. Restore installation (PCEI)

  • Remove protection against adjacent live parts
  • Remove earth and short circuiting
  • Restore actions taken to secure against reconnection
  • Reconnect completely
  • Return control responsibility
  • Secure normal operations
