The overall work process is the same for all working procedures. The steps of the work process are outlined below.

1. Plan work (Work Planner)
- Perform Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS)
- Create Work Request
- Perform a Pre-Job Briefing
- Submit Work Request to PCEI and include RAMS
2. Plan switchings (PCEI)
- Check and verify Work Request
- Plan switchings and safety measures in a switching schedule
- Check Switching Schedule (4-eye principle)
- Send out Switching Schedule
- Delegate Control Responsibility (if necessary)
3. Prepare installation for work (PCEI)
- Disconnect completely
- Secure against reconnection
- Verify absence of operating voltage
- Earth and short circuiting
- Apply protection against adjacent live parts
- Issue a Permit-To_Work
4. Perform work (PCWA)
- Receive Permit-To-Work
- Perform Risk Management at the work location (RISK-W) and communicate the risks with the work team
- Perform a Pre-Job Briefing with the work team
- Verify absence of operating voltage
- If necessary apply supplementary safety measures
- Perform work activity
- Secure that the electrical installation is ready for reconnection
- Inform workers about the reconnection – ensure that no one continues to work
- Remove supplementary safety measures
- Clear Permit-To-Work
- Perform a Post-Job Debriefing with the work team
5. Restore installation (PCEI)
- Remove protection against adjacent live parts
- Remove earth and short circuiting
- Restore actions taken to secure against reconnection
- Reconnect completely
- Return control responsibility
- Secure normal operations
